Rain water is a great, priceless way to water your plants, flowers, lawn and fish ponds and it is better for your plants than chlorinated tap water.
You'll need a regular 35 gallon plastic trashcan or barrel (not provided) but avoid using steel barrels because they are heavy and prone to rusting. Cut a hole 16" from the bottom of the trashcan using a 1 ½" hole saw. The rain barrel kit contains one 3 ½" reverse thread black plastic bulkhead and one ¾" outdoor grade Sediment Faucet. Attach your ¾" female garden hose thread garden hose to your outdoor grade Sediment Faucet.
The rain barrel can be filled within a matter of minutes during a good rainstorm.
It's ideal for dry areas that suffer from rain droughts when you desperately need to get water to your plants and garden and when you don't have time to wait on Mother Nature to water them for you. Also, the Rain Barrel Faucet is good for conserving water and reduces water that enters local sewers. Keep in mind that water on your roof may contain dirt, debris and bird droppings, so never let humans or pets drink from rain barrels. | | | Features: | |
